How much does it cost to install kitchen cabinets and should you use a pro?
Flat packed, or Ready To Assembly (R.T.A.), cabinets are the biggest thing in today’s kitchen remodeling industry. They are sold online and in brick and mortar stores like Cabinets To Go or IKEA. If the cabinets aren’t in stock they usually have a short turn-around time, making them of high value to investors and the impatient home-owner.In addition to the quick availably, R.T.A. cabinets are usually a fraction of the cost. Because of the cost and availability the cabinet are marketed towards the D.I.Y.er. This may seem like a match made in heaven, but it isn’t without it’s pitfalls.
It is easy for the frequent HDTV watcher and casual honey-doer to think they can remodel a kitchen in a 30 minute time frame, because, well that’s how they do it on TV. The truth is, if you have never remodeled a kitchen before chances are you can learn and do it, but you won’t be as good as the guy who has been doing it for 20 years. So, depending on your tolerance for error, save yourself the time and the money and hire a professional.
